Non working back windows

i have a 94 atx and both back windows do not work, would this be a motor, and if so how many for the back windows 1 motor for both or 1 for each window,where are they located?(inside door), what else could make the back windows not work thanks guys

both the front and back windows on the passenger side of my SHO kind of do that. They will try and roll down but it seems like something is preventing them. I tryed replacing the switch and now they only do it every once in a while, so it half-way worked i guess.

For me, it's a combination of the switch and the window regulator grommet thingies. If I can get the switch to operate the motor, the motor still has trouble pulling the window down the track.

When the grommets get worn, the glass twists in the frame and jams the motor.

where is the master switch? youre not talking about the part that is on the drivers door are you? even the switches on the rear doors do not work front windows and moonroof are fine

i replaced the driver side switch that controls all of the windows :wave:

The master switch on the drivers door gave me issues like this as well, i swapped it out and now all my windows work.

The motors could be burned out as well... both my rear window motors (yes, there is one window motor in each door... I don't know how the **** you could design a system where one motor controls windows on opposite sides of the car?!?)

Definitely check on the switch (grab a multimeter and play around with the leads - see if you have voltage at the door switch and at the master switch)... but if that doesn't get you anywhere, pop off the door panel and check on the motors. Mine were rusted solid due to poor weatherstripping around my window seal. There are ebay stores that sell replacement motors if you need them. If it gets to that point, make sure you purchase the correct ones - they are different part numbers for front/rear and left/right... and the motor will not fit in any of the other locations. PM me for info on the ebay store if you need it!

something to think about. I had this happen on my mustang and it was actually the wires that go through the grommet in the door to body, they were actually broken and occasionally would touch to complete the circuit. I can't remember what the back doors use for the wiring, if is the rubber grommet or what not?? Oh well, but that could be a possibility Good luck

I have a green 94 also...lol...and my rear windows don't work either. The rear switches don't work. Could this still be a master switch problem, or should I check the motors also? Someone said it could be both?

Could be any of the above mentioned causes. The only way to find out is to crack open the doors and inspect them mechanically / electrically. It's not that scary of a job... hardest thing you'll run into is preventing 13 year old plastic tabs from breaking during door panel removal. And you can even let that happen a couple times before you get into actual trouble.

If rear windows work from the driver's front master switch, but do not work from the rear window switches, then I would suspect the rear switches or the power going to them.

I think if I ever have the rear window motors out again, I'm gonna see if maybe a small bead of sealant might be worth putting around the "******" where it bolts up to the bracket.

where can i find replament tabs? my front door panels are very loose.

Actually, what broke on my door was the molded plastic part on the door panel that held the tabs.

I remember somebody put up a post linking to a fastener company that had every kind of product available. Try searching for it... if I take the time to look myself, and if I have any luck I'll come back and post it here

All of the windows are routed through the driver's switch, right?

When I had my 87 GL all but the drivers window would roll down. I was messing with it one day and I found that the others would roll down if my door was open. It didn't have to be very far but they worked everytime, including from their switches.

That was a blast to do on the highway going 60!

I would start with the master window switch on the drivers door. I have yet to replace a rear window motor, but have replaced the master switch twice now ...

The rear drivers side windows stopped working on my dads old 93 a few years ago, I never fixed it before he sold the car. Now my rear drivers side window stopped going down (Why is it always the rear drivers side window?!) I'm going to have to try replacing this master switch.
