95 ATX 96K,

I have made a video of my engine running and have it available for viewing here.

I need help establishing the source of my noisy engine. I know that some of it is due to valve train and injector noise but it is unusually loud. The other strange noises occur when accelerating the engine as heard at about 22 secs. into the video. This is an awkward, groaning, rubbery like sound. The sound then reappears when the engine is decelerating and coming to an idle as heard in the end of the video.

I appreciate your input in this matter.

I hear a "whine" noise when you accelerate. Have you had any luck using a stethascope (sp) or even a long screwdriver. It almost sounds like transmission pump noise. I would try to pin-point where it comes from. That may help with your search.

Clean motor too. :thumb:

I have tried using a mechanics stethescope and have been unable to pinpoint the exact area of the noise. The rubber like sound generally eminates from the middle to rear of the engine. Are you referinging to the rubber like sound as the whine?

It almost sounds like a compression or vac leak somewhere. Hard to tell though. Check around your spark plugs, prolly not it. But you can check the vac hoses too.

I would say the engine is running at about 80 - 85% if 100% was the condition I purchased it in. It could, however, be due to oil in my plug wells. But that still doesn't explain the groaning noise. The plugs are Motocraft with about 30k on them, wires I believe are original but in good condition.
