I looked all over. I was hoping someone had figured a way to plug the opening. I couldn't find anything. At this time I don't want to buy the MKS / Flex part. I didn't want an after-market pipe either. I come up with something similar to the chair leg cap for the BOV- VTA mod. I used a 1-1/2" sewer pipe cap. It's rubber and came with the clamp from Ace hardware for $3.99
Besides the Ace numbers, the part is stamped Pipeconx 1-1/2 plastic or cast iron. It also says made in USA, Evansville Indian so it's gotta work!

I was worried about it holding up to boost preasure. Tested it and got some peak boost at 16lbs with no problems. I was also worried about creating strange airflow dynamics. The air flow may have changed I don't know but performance is same as it ever was. I did notice it was much more quiet inside the cabin which is what I was trying to accomplish. I like the results. I was never fond of the idea of making fake engine noise. It also frees up a little space in engine bay. I'm interested in how it holds up in time with under hood heat. I have the noise maker and screwdriver in the trunk in case this pipe cap blows out.

To give the car the sound that the engine bay and cover are muffling because of the loud fuel pump and injectors ( in lamins term ) more sporty sound but the Mks dose not have this because they do not what engine noise in a luxury car. I have mine blocked off too and I want the cabin to be quite. Thus did accomplish it. U can still hear the motor and turbos when the window are down ( note make sure there is no oil residue just a little can blow the plug out cleaned my up hasn't done it since even at wot) cheapest mod to do on the car

Can you guys explain what the purpose of this is that's attached to the throttlebody inlet? Your calling it a noise maker? Why did Ford put it there? Also how does that clamp come off? Thanks

FMC's sole purpose in placing that piece on the SHO platform, was to help (literally) direct noise towards the passenger compartment to provide a more "sporty" noise experience.

There is/was no other benefit to have this contraption in place/use. The piece is held in place by a metal tensioned 'C' type retaining clip.

The Lincoln platform, long considered more luxurious & refined, does not employ this same contraption to help achieve a quieter cabin.

It affectionately became dubbed as "the noise maker contraption" as a result.

Thanks Mike and that's hilarious and leave it to Ford.. I'm heading to ACE right now to get the rubber cap.

Okay, just so everybody knows, Ford didn't invent this idea nor were they the first to use the technology. Lots of Cars have them, Ford is late to the party on this one.

Well pulled the noise maker off and put that rubber cap on. My 16 is about 1" OD and the inside of the cap is 1- 1/2" but the clamp snugged it up. Still think I'll try to find a cap with a 1" ID..Uploadfromtaptalk1464565513566

I looked for 1" and 1-1/4" at Ace. They just didn't have it and this one worked.

I used a Dremel to trim the narrow end of the outlet off, then the cap fits perfectly and has a lip to seal on.
