I read that some delete it and some don't since it doesn't really change the noise? Is there any benefit or harm in deleting it?

No harm in removing it.

However, that said, be sure to properly cap off / seal the opening.

Is there an easy way of doing it? other than buying the whole L pipe from LMS or EPP?

I am just going to spend the money from EPP. It is built top notch and looks great.

For $150 does it really make a "noticeable," difference?

For the $150 it removes the whole plastic tube and the noise maker (which has the tendency to leak boost) and replaces it with a hard pipe for a cleaner and more function look IMO.
