Like the title says, I have a knocking noise coming from the area shown in the picture. Can someone tell me why? What I might have to fix? I assume the timing chain may be loose. Any help is appreciated.

If it is a rhythmic tapping noise, that changes with RPM, then most likely your timing chain tensioner is in need of replacement.

It is a constant tapping noise. Can I buy a new tensioner from Autozone,or NAPA,or do I need to go through Ford? How difficult is it to replace?

I believe that both tensioners are obsolete. You may be able to have your local ford dealer do a search for you and find a new one at another dealer.

I'm having a tick/knock from that area too, but it happens every 2-3 seconds and it isn't a consistant sound.

As for as I know it just started doing this after I pulled the intake manifold off yesterday, I couldn't have dropped something in right?

It'd not the rod bearing, thats at the bottom by the oil pan.
i know that, but even at that, some sound can travel through the engine, and you never know were its coming from. that was my point. :thumb:

i tried the trick with the screw driver, were you put a flat head on the valve cover, and try to find were the tap is coming from. thats why i know mine is the tensioner. you can feel it through the driver.

Place a cloth on the valve cover and feel it. I felt the tick on my fingers.

Thing is I only hear it at idle, rev it a little and it goes away. Should I stop driving my car now or can I drive it a little bit?

Same with mine. The oil passage in the tensioner has crud in it. I've heard you can remove it, and clean it with choke/carb cleaner. Next time you hear at tapping at idle, turn on your AC. The sound stops immediately.
