Actually it is N2O. wink
Seriously, though. These trannies are ver unreliable, and I would not chance running nitrous through your car without first beefing up the transmission, but then again there have been folks who have run many bottles of nitrous on the original trannies and have not had any problems whatsoever.

One of the interesting 'common knowledge' things here and on other gen III SHO places is that the transmission is no good. My personal experience is that it is a very fine transmission, for an auto, and it has been zero problems for me. And I do not think I am alone, since every once in a while I hear someone else mention they are doing just fine on the original transmission. I have 115K+ on mine. Have others of you gotten to high mileage without any transmission problems?

Count me into the bad group at 35,000 miles going south. It is redone however and STRONG now for sure! Something I haven't seen anyone ask about is the cam welds. Have you had those done yet?? If not, N2O is a no-no for sure until you have!!

I had nitrous for about 5 months. I had a back fire which cost be $2500. Popped all my injectors, shattered my filter box, broke maf, and some more. All I ask is be careful. So instead of power with the click of a button, I got power all the time with a supercharger naughty

MIKEBSHO, Do share some pictures- the signature sounds pretty impressive. Sounds like you've spent a little time tweaking the ole' Bull!

see other thread.. Tuning "SHOULD" be done on the Gen III before you play hard..

The 96-97 are the more problemed trans, they were updated in 98 which knocked down the failures considerbly. That being said, Steve let me put your trans on the course for a few hrs :) Your in the danger zone.. Can you hear that knocking yet? Its AMMACO and thier at your front door

If your transmission has been upgraded at the factory, there is, I believe, a sticker to that effect actually on the casing. I do not know how long these stay on, but mine is still there through 5 Canadian winters, so they must use some really nasty glue. No transmission problems yet, and pushing 120,000. :)
