Hello everyone, My 89 is having a no-start problem.

We begin with the first time I noticed it. The car would not start for love or money. I left it for about 10 minutes, come back, and it started. All I did was wiggle some rubber lines underneath the passenger side body seam.

After that, the problem became more frequent. I could no longer wiggle the wires and make it start. I don't know if this had anything to do with the problem anyway. It would die in the middle of operation as well, leaving me stranded, sometimes for hours. There was no warning when this would happen. I originally thought it was a fuel problem because sometimes the fuel pump wouldn't run but that was traced to the ignition cylinder. I was told it is an ignition module problem, does anyone have any ideas? :type:

When it doesnt start, what happens? Do you have a reading on the tach? Does it sound like it normally does while cranking?

When it dies in the middle of operation, is it while your coasting, giving it gas, etc?

Have you pulled any codes?

Just trying to pull more info from you. :thumb:

mine does this sometimes, try flooring it when you try to start. My unconfirmed theory is a faulty fuel injector stays open sometimes after I shut it off, and leaks a bunch of gas, flooding it.

E-Buzz... I'm assuming the car cranks...

A common issue under an intermittant no-start with these cars is the cam or crank position sensors. A bad cps usually causes a bouncing tach, but a bad PIP (crank sensor) can cause intermittant no start without codes and can cause random stalling at speed.

The car does crank, it makes no funny noises, I do get a tach reading. It seems to just die for no apparent reason other than it wants to. Tach does not bounce. When I floor it, it does nothing. sometimes (maybe 2/10 times) it will come back to life. The engine light is not on, it gives no codes.

My 93 did something like this, the fuel pump relay was going out. Check the voltage coming out of the roll over switch, wire going to the fuel pump, it should be 12 volts. Mine was getting 6 volts.

Yeah, I'd definately look into the fuel pressure at the rail under idle or crank.
