Got in there, and found the timing to be off 180* Were in the middle of getting everything put back together

Hope it fires up for you. Its not fun having to pull everything apart agian, but atleast you found what the issue is......thats better than one of those phantom issues that you can never seem to track down.

We got his engine to TDC and here are the pics.

One of these things are not like the others

Front cams, with stamping marks on the cams straight up, engine is at TDC

Rear cams, the intake cam is facing correctly, but not the exhaust cam.

I think what happened was that we didn't realize about the cam chain and exactly how it was to be oriented on the cam gears. Then when a starting attempt was made, cam chain not being oriented correctly, it threw the rear exhaust cam out of timing. This was uncharted territory. Its close to being squared away. Then hopefully it will run fine after this.

When I swapped my cam on the 90 I didn't put the chain on in any particular way. I wasn't aware that certain links on the chain needed to be placed in certain areas. I just lined up the dots on the cam gear, marked the belt, taped the belt in place when I pulled the cam loose (so it didn't go slack over the crank), swapped the new cam in, in the exact position and put it back together. I did take pictures before tearing it apart and b/c I swapped the cam, I pulled the gears off but made sure I put them back exactly as they were. The pics helped because I could see what position the cam lobes were supposed to be pointed at TDC.

Next time try turning the motor over by hand before you button everything up. I do that with the timing belt just to make sure it stays where its supposed to. I would sugguest doing the same here a few times and make positive you have it right.
