The car is a 1993 SHO MTX. The other day I went to start my car and it did a "Ruh, ruh, ruh" and wouldn't start. I had my GF's dad jump it and it started fine. I drove to work and when I went to leave the car gave me one little attempt and then it was like I had nothing at all, turn the key nothing. I had a guy at work jump me, and it started fine. I get home and take my GF's parents van to pick up a new battery. The one in it is 7 years old and looked terrible. I get the new battery in and go to start it and it gives me a notion that it wants to turn over, and then nothing. All the interior lights are working but when I turn the key I get nothing after the first attempt. So we try to jump it, and now this time jumping it won't even start it. We take a look at the terminals and their is a little corrosion. I just had to replace the positive terminal lug because it had corroded away. We pulled the new clamp off the positive wire and all the strands are coated with white powder corrosion and it looks like it follows the wire down the line a bit. Me and her Dad are assuming their is something wrong with the wiring to the battery itself, but we are not sure. The only other thing I can think of is the starter, but it's odd that it would go from starting perfectly fine to not being able to start at all. Is the battery wiring two straight runs? And any suggestions on where to find the correct cables?

I would look into getting a new battery wire harness. You can also get extensions with terminals from any parts store and cut the wires where the corrosion stops and splice in the new wires with the new terminals.
Have your starter tested and make sure your alternator is kicking out the right amount of juice.
Hope this helps.

Had the starter tested, and it tested good. When I turn the key I get nothing, but we are getting lots of juice on the connection to the solenoid. Crossed the solenoid to see if it actually may be the culprit and it melted a good piece of a screw driver and it didn't start... maybe the starter? It was DRENCHED in oil when we took it out, but why would it test good at vatozone?

A new starter maybe in order. As far as the starter being drenched in oil... I am not sure why that happened. Maybe a seal went bad?

When you crossed the solenoid with the screwdriver did you hear the starter turning or clicking?

Do you have an after market alarm installed in the car? If the after market alarm went bad that could also be causing the car to not start.

Check the neutral safety switch. Did you try to start the car while it is in neutral?

My father in law was the one under the car, he said their was oil coming from the filter. I will ask if he heard any clicking, I was in the car turning the key. I didn't really hear anything in the car. No alarm installed and I was trying to start it while in neutral.
