I had this problem a month ago, and I can expand a little as I heard a few more things this time...
Wierd thing, not sure if it's related or not, I drove about 10 miles to the hobby shop this weekend, and when I came back out, the car wouldn't start. I turn the key, and all I got was a "fluttering" noise, like the door chime, only constant, barely audible, and fluttering like it was underwater. The tach jumped to like 3,000, the engine didn't turn, it just fluttered, and made the wierd noise. Not sure how to explain it. The car was near empty, and when I turned on the key, the pump would do it's whistle/hum thing, and then it would make a loud gurgle noise for about 2-3 seconds, die out, and be quiet again. I rocked the car a few times, and it started up just fine.
BTW- I've since filled up the tank, and the pump does not gurgle at startup now...
It has now done this three times (with the fluttering no start thing) and it's a little unnerving. Could it be the fuel pump, or a sensor of some sort?
Thanx
