Today while driving the car felt like it was in neutral. I gave it gas and there was no response from the transmission then after about a second or two it engaged. It happen once before and I thought it was a safety feature because I and hit a dip at night but today it happened twice. I was not at a standstill I was actually driving about 45mph when it happened. Ran the vehicle health report and of course nothing showed up.

Go through the messges. You'll find issues with the transmission concerning this and other issues. There is a TSB out and is listed. It seems you haven't had all the issues yet that most have had concerning shifting.

Yeah so far so good but it is kind of worrisome though. I have had the collision warning issue and there is a tb for that with no fix insight according to Ford. I had an issue with the powertrain that gave me the dreaded wrench icon on the dash got it fixed they said a loose pin was causing that issue but now this. If it keeps up I might have to jump ship back to Lexus lol.

I've had that happen on my Focus twice.
Usually it just slips on one of the shifts and revs up til it engages about 2 seconds later.

Then the second time I had the wrench come on and the car shifted really hard like a guy smashing on a manual transmission.
I was like wtf; turned the car off and restarted. The wrench went away and it shifted normal again.
I still brought it to the dealer telling them about it and they said there was an improved solenoid design in the tranny and they fixed it for me and it never happened again.
I think this was around 19k miles. I have 38k now

Don't know if you guys have sync, but if you do, when you get the wrench light, run a health report. As soon as you recycle the ignition, the codes will be gone as the system won't save them. You need to so the report before you shut down. Just pull over to the side of the road and run it. You'll have all the codes and errors in the report.

yes I did that the last time when I had that light but this time nothing showed up on it go figure. I will have to wait leaving tomorrow for 2 weeks so I will take it in when I got for my second oil change. I will call them first and tell them so they are prepared because their customer service sucks here.

Mine did the same thing this morning and I already had the speed sensor replaced. I didn't see any wrench light though. Every week it does something strange related to shifting or power loss. I think it is a marketing plan to get you buy the extended warranty.

Please let us know what the solution is.

This sounds like the transmission range sensor (I think that is what its called). My car would do this while cruising on the highway. It would suddenly turn the cruise off and when you tried to give it gas to speed back up it would do nothing for a few seconds. There is a TSB on it. Mine had no wrench show up or anything. They replaced the sensor (all day at the dealer, it hard to get to) and it has not done it since.

I took it in to the shop for a series of issues one was the collision warning/ cruise control shutting off, they claim they fixed it but according to the sheets basically cleaned the sensor in the front which was bs because it was clean and it was not the problem. Then they wrote down that the no response issue was due to the cruise control problem. I think they did not do jack and pencil whipped it. So I took it to another dealer after calling Ford and expressed myself. Now I need to find someone who has siruis radio w nav to see what their radio says when it is on Channel 81. Mine says Cinemajic which is wrong of course. It said that when it was the Strobe and now it is something else and still says that. Sirius has no idea what is wrong and so far have not been able to fix it. There are so far two stations mislabelled. I do not know if the TSB referencing the radio w nav not updating has something to do with it because it does not list that symptom.

The radio problem is Sirius' fault. The radio recieves the channel guide from them and just shows you the channels. You will have alot of problems getting this fixed as Sirius is probably the most incompetent publicly traded company there is.

This slip into neutral issue just happened to us at a stoplight a few minutes ago. Pushed the gas, engine raced, clunked, move forward some, then back to neutral, clunked, then went on fine. Not happened since, no lights or indication of problem via idiots lights.
Guess 10-2-21 is my TSB for this issue.
Why can't Ford just apply all these TSB's if applicable to your build date, etc. instead of us having to report it first.

As long as it's a TSB, and it doesn't happen to the build dates in question, then Ford doesn't have to pay for the repair. If they made it a recall, then it would cover all within the suspect build date even if it never happened to any particular car. Ford saves money, and most owners, unless they are part of a Forum such as this, would never know. It's a money issue, and unlike the Toyota recall over stuck throttle, it won't be a recall until it becomes a safety issue with injury and plenty of publicity.
