I think I've confirmed that I'm NOT getting any power to the EEC. When I turn the key to the ON position
the cooling fan immediately comes on even though the engine is cold, and the fuel pump doesn't
prime. I also tried to pull the codes, but the check engine light won't even respond. I have a hard
time believing that the EEC would just crap out like that. I spoke with a Ford mechanic and he
said they fail VERY rarely. I've checked as much of the wire harness as I could and checked the
grounds and didn't find any problems. Is there a fuse or a circuit breaker that could cause this??
Any ideas would be appreciated.

BTW, I would change the EEC, but someone who worked on the car
before I bought it stripped out the wire harness connection to the EEC and I can't get the harness
disconnected from the EEC to save my life.

did you check right by the battery, the connection that is beside the power steering resevoir, and the connection that goes from there to side of the engine bay? That being unplugged will do what you described.

You didn't tell us the year of your SHO. Assuming a GEN I or II, the EEC gets it's power from the CCRM,,,Constant Control Relay Module,,,that's the black box at the top of the radiator. The CCRM is a hi failure item. Also, pull on the wires that go into "black blob" splices. Due to corrosion I have found only green powder where my copper wires used to be inside those "blobs". Something about the great midwest rust belt that seems to promote corrosion.

Thanks for the replies guys.
BTW, my SHO is an 89, so yes it has the relay control module. I tried two other modules on it and it had no effect. I checked both the connections as recommended by SHO91MTX, and they were not at fault. Because this car has always been in Washington, I have no corrosion or rust problems. I wiggled every part of the wire harness that I could get at while the key was in the ON position (fan running), and there was never an instant when the fan stopped.

this is a dumb question, but do you have any aftermarket computer piggyback devices on the car? ie: LPM, superchip, hypertech chip, etc.

No aftermarket chip on the EEC. The only mod I've messed with is a 73mm MAF, which I removed after a couple days because it had such a negative affect on the idle.
