OK, well i will start by letting you know what happened... i was attempting to install an alarm onto the SHO, long story short i had to undo what i had done....and one of the wires... a yellow, 12V constant wire, smoked a tiny bit when i began to undo the guillotine (spelling?)connector i had put on. well now...
i have no dash lights, no fuel pump power, the starter wont turn, and i only have 12V to like 3 of the fuses in the panel.
i put in a new ignition switch and checked the power there, no power at any key position. My dad jumped the starter relay on the fenderwell and it would turn over, but still no starting....no doubt due to the fuel pump.
i have checked all the fuseable links and they are fine. I have no blown fuses, except for the one in my head.....:nut:
anybody have some ideas of where to go for me? its a 91....
i think the next step is going to be pulling the dash out and looking for where the original power wire comes in through the firewall....

I'd start by figuring out where the burnt wire goes to and what it powers. There are complete wiring diagrams you can access in the electronics section of the generation 1 & 2 forum.

You might also check the relays under the removable panel on top of the radiator. Shorting one of them out could cause all the things you are describing.

Don't start pulling the dash until you absolutely have to, it is a real pain to do, and probably won't help.

These cars are notorious for electrical gremlins. In your case, the way you describe it, you just put too much power onto a relay or fuse somewhere. You just gotta figure out where, and which one.

ok well, i am guessing that you are talking about the guy with the 'M' on it? i pulled it apart and i am not sure what to be looking for. should they all have 12v with the engine off?
or is it one of the other things sitting on top of the radiator... there are 3..
if so, what are they so that i can test them?

Those relays are part of the CCRM (Constant Control Relay Module). Do a search here under CCRM test and you will find tons of information that should help.
