No navigation or voice control

My display will list the address but if I select navigation I get a "navigation error, see touch screen" message, without anything on the touchscreen. And my voice control button does not work. The redial (top part of button) does and the phone works, but no voice controls. I disconnected the battery for about 4 hours (3 year old Optima, btw) and did a master reset and still no dice.

Ideas? - 2013 SHO, btw.

So I read elsewhere to pull the sync fuse, run the car for 5 minute, reinstall the fuse and everything should be good. Be daring and look where that fuse is located on our cars..... Up under the dash and impossible to get to. I tried every contortion and curse word to try and get that sucker and gave up after about an hour.

Yeah, when I had my 2013 with Sync 2, I tried that too... was really difficult, but I got it.

Facetime with two Apple devices (or whatever works on Android) ? Endoscope?

Also, if you lay out something that's high enough to match the door sill plate, maybe lay on it, and back yourself in there so you can see?

Yeah, when I had my 2013 with Sync 2, I tried that too... was really difficult, but I got it.

Also, if you lay out something that's high enough to match the door sill plate, maybe lay on it, and back yourself in there so you can see?

I put a shop light and a shaving mirror so that I could see the fuse. I tried tweezers but can't get enough grip to pull the fuse. Needle nose pliers are too long to maneuver.

Did pulling the fuse fix your issue?

No. Resetting the whole damned car did - by pulling the battery + cable

No fuse puller in either box. I disconnected the negative battery cable for a few hours yesterday. Does it matter if you disconnect it instead of the positive cable?

Nope. Same idea, no power to anything. It's a long-shot, but do you have a navigation SD card in the slot? Remove it.

I tried removing the SD card, too. I guess I'll try upgrading to Sync 3.1 when my thumb drive arrives. If I select navigation it will just set blank for a few seconds and then go back to the main screen. Ticking me off royally

Hands-free works fine if I dial from the phone and BT stereo works as well. A couple of times the volume control has not worked from the wheel or the dial. Restarting the car fixes that each time.

Sounds like a funday Sunday I'll have to download Forscan again.

Come to think of it, though, I've noticed the "Sync is performing system upgrade" message comes on about every other time I start the car.

Did you try to upgrade it recently? Did you get the car recently, and it was doing this? Something's weird if it's trying to upgrade.

And I guess it might NOT be a bad idea to try an upgrade, maybe it will complete.

No, I've had the car for a couple of years. I connected it to Forscan earlier today and there were no DTCs. I did a forced APIM module reset and still have the same issues.... no voice control or navigation.

Sounds like you need to replace the Sync Module. Unfortunately it's a very common problem.
