My friend got a clutch kit from monument auto parts for around 250. But he tells me its a really bad clutch. But the guy who did it isnt a very good mechanic so it could of been installed wrong, he has messed up the clutch jobs on their sho b4...

a fellow member of the LSSHOC has an SVT membership and at the sponsored dealership, he can order a factory clutch set, minus wear parts, for $210 delivered. but alas, he cant do this for all of SHO community. just a thought maybe other clubs could find out about SVT memberships. about 5 SHOwners, myself included, went to an SVT meeting once and we felt kinda like we didnt belong, mainly because we wouldnt be able to participate in any SVT activities. we could only be there for support. but look into a membership, ****, its a discount on all Ford parts.

Edit: didn't know Josh was offering replacements. Removed my pricing.

That really sucks to hear that Josh isn't offering it any more. That was one of the first things I was going to do to my SHO. What he sells it for is cheaper then what I can get it for wholesale... doh I'm sure he'll still be selling a kit, just at a higher price. He'll probably still have me beat. :)

Has anyone tried the LuK clutch? I see a SHO application for under $200 here http://www.carolinaclutch.com/
The SHO clutch was made by Valeo, who owns Luk. Or is it that Luk owns Valeo? It's one way or the other.

Either way, it's a good source for us. Just make sure you get the 9-3/4" clutch, rather than the puny 9-1/4".

SHO NUT should be soon annoucing some new offerings for some upgraded units. Basically a re-inforced PP (bigger straps and bigger rivets) and 3 or 4 different custom discs. The "mild" offerings have near stock manors. Email josh for details, I believe he'll have it on his site soon.

I've seen a couple Luk clutch's, and they aren't valeo (the discs anyway). ALL SHO clutch pressure plates start out from Ford/Valeo, the discs can vary from different suppliers. Wasn't real impressed with the Luk discs.

Good news and bad news, good news is the Ford clutch kit is currently avaiable accross the counter of your parts dealer.
Bad news is it lists for $300 so you will have to negotiate your cost with the dealer. Normal discount to a repair shop should be 25% off list.
I've gotten 10% over cost when I was buying lots of stuff from one dealer.
Try the Ford parts network and see what they will do on it for you.
This is the same clutch kit that SHO NUT was selling.

That's the clutch / pp kit only, no TOB likely Mike. My cost is 10% over dealer and was quoted today around $250 + $50 for the TOB. Lists were $320 & $75 IIRC.

Torrie isn't making much on them, that's for sure.

Looking forward to Josh's upgraded offerings Mark.

I'm replacing the clutch in my SHO within the next week and I want to start ordering all the parts today. I was sad to see Josh is not selling his $219 kit anymore cry
Glad my clutch is done already... eek!

I believe that the Ford clutch is a kit only and contains the TOB, sleeve, disc and PP. I don't think that the plastic TOB pin is included in the kit though.

Nope, the Clutch from Ford is PP & disc only. You have to buy the TOB separately. Been there, done that. Had to do a clutch on short notice once, & Josh was out. Cost me $400 for all the parts, including rear carrier gasket & rear main, etc., etc. vs. Josh's old $300 kit.

This isn't TOO bad of a price if you plan on getting Josh's TOB with the ceramic upgrade.

sunny San Juan Bautista,
Isn't Josh's price for the ceramic TOB upgrade not including the price for a new Ford core? In any event if I want a stock clutch I'll just have to pay extra for one, that's all. I'm eager to see what upgraded clutches Josh will be selling. If I decide to go with an upgraded clutch the decision sure will be easier knowing that it isn't as cost effective anymore going with the tried and true stock unit.

There's always a silver lining.
