I spent Sunday afternoon performing most of my interior swap on the '89 SHO... When I started this project, all of my electrical items worked.

Now, my Keyless entry system, interior lights, trunk light, and my clock do not work. But, on the same fuse, the radio and my instrument cluster DO work. I checked all of my fuses(good), and the only wires I disconnected were for the seats, the center console, and the overhead moonroof console.

Any ideas where I may look? Are there any circuit breakers or more fuses that I cannot locate?
This is driving me nuts.

The lights had gone out sometime in the afternoon. I did not disconnect the battery when i performed this. I had the doors open, and I thought maybe the car had the kind of lights that turn themselves off after awhile. I guess not, huh?

Per the 89 EVTM, fuse 8 supplies these circuits.

This circuit supplies the power for memory power to the radio and provides for power to be switched to the dome lights via the dashboard dimmer switch. The other functions of the radio and of the I/P illumination are handled by different supply circuits.

That takes you back to fuse # 8. Pull it out and verify that you have 12 V at all times to one of the terminals. If the fuse was not blown, you have an open circuit between the fuse box and splice S133. If you do not have 12V to either of the terminals, you have an open circuit in the fuse block, most likely.

According to the power distribution diagram, this fuse supplies power to the digital clock, illuminated entry, keyless entry, power mirror, and courtesy lamps (including trunk and under hood) circuits.

Good luck. I'd bet on fuse # 8 being open. If you replace it and it blows again, I'd bet that a wire going to the overhead console got cripmed/shorted to ground.

Ok...but the fuse didn't blow. I will have to borrow(or buy) a voltmeter to test the voltage at fuse#8.
If indeed I don't have 12v at the fuse, where should i start looking???

Thanks Steve!

Pretty much says it.

I second the overhead console. A wire on my car shorted as well, and I was left without lights inside.

I take it that S133 means Splice #133? Do you have any idea where I can find that?
I removed all of the electrical components(that i just installed), and still nothing works. I even pulled and wiggled every harness connector that I could see.
Thanks

Did you get a meter and check for the presence of voltage in the fuse block at fuse 8?

Did you verify continuity of fuse 8 with a meter (not just visually)?

If you don't have power there, you'd be wasting your time locating the splices.

Splice 133, per the 89 EVTM, is under the dash, to the right of the steering column, left of the radio bay, near a ground connection takeout from the main harness. Light green/yellow wires.

I just swapped out the dash shell in my 89 also. I can easily understand that a harness wire may have gotten stressed and opened up. My only snafu was a partially unplugged connector for my front speakers, so I got lucky.

You really need the meter (or a test light). An inexpensive test meter is 10 bucks or less. Harborfreight sells a cheap digital meter for only 5 bucks! Go ahead and get yourself one. Once you have it, you can troubleshoot in a logical manner instead of just guessing.
