Hi All!
Like many Gen 2'ers, I had a short in the Cruise Control Modlue, so I disconnected the harness that plugs into it, but that left me with no horn. I need the horn to pass NY State inspection. The wire harness going into the Cruise Cintrol Module had 10 pins and #2 is a bit melted (#1 being closest to the firewall). I've been told that this harness on the ATX's also houses the horn wire(s). Does anyone know which wire(s) controls the horn? My harness is as follows:
PIN 1 Black Wire
PIN 2 Brown Wire with Blue Tracer (stripe)
PIN 3 Empty
PIN 4 Yellow Wire
PIN 5 Orange Wire
PIN 6 Turquise Wire with Black Tracer
PIN 7 Red Wire with Black Tracer
PIN 8 Green Wire with White Tracer
PIN 9 Empty
PIN 10 Empty

I'm just looking to identify which wire(s) belong to the horn circut so that I can reconnect them. If anyone knows which wires I need to work with, or has a wiring diagram I would be most appeciative of some help!

Thanx,

Warren

Hi Rockledge,

Thanx so much for the wiring diagrams, I expect them to be most helpful as I try to safely rewire the horn circut sometime over the next weekend or two! I'll let ya know how it goes.

Best Regards,
Warren

So from looking at those diagrams, I need to hack the orange wire off the harness and splice it into....what?

Hey SuperHO,

At first I was going to take the Orange Wire out of the harness that isn't hooked up now anyway and extend it down to the horns. After giving it some thought, I'm gonna re-connect the harness with the Orange wire only & see if I blow the fuse & have horns. If the horns don't work, then, I'll either go back to my first thought , or connect the whole harness back except for the wire that fried in the first place.

Did you have the same kind of short in your Cruise Control module?

I hate to say this but between these annoying problems, scarcity of parts and the interior rattles over every bump, the Altima 3.5SE is looking better & better every day...

My wife's 94 ATX has that problem. Lemme know how it turns out.....

...and to be perfectly honest, if I had the money, the woman would trade in her 94 on a brand new Mazda 6

I like the Mazda 6 as well. A friend has one (with the 200hp 6cyl of course) and it is a nice ride! At $2.50 a gal & 6-7 mph on my 70 Mach 1, she's really not an attractive everyday option...cash has been a little tight here too, so...back to fixin' the SHO. I expect to have a crack at it this weekend, & I'll let ya know how it goes.

Thanx ROCKLEDGE !! Horn is Blowin'

Thanx to ROCKLEDGE for the wiring diagrams :thumb:

This Brake Switch / Cruise Control Module short circut / No Horn problem is common to many Gen 2 SHO's.

The Orange wire going into the Cruise Control Module is a HORN GROUND WIRE. I was expecting it to be hot, but as soon as I tested the circut with a test lamp, I got a pleasant surprise. When I hit the horn I expected the light to go on, rather the horn sounded, so I just spliced in a few inches of wire and grounded it to the enginge compartment wall, and now the horn issue is solved.

Hey SuperHO, this is a nice -n- easy fix for your wife's 94. Good Luck!

Hey every now and then the SHO GODS throw us an easy one. This was all I did to get the horn back. Since the horns themselves are grounded to the chasis, this is paerhaps a gorund for the relay? I don't know electicity, & don't care right now...all I know is the horn works! Happy Honkin'

FWIW one of my best friends who owns a transmission shop went to WMU !
