just bought a 97 sho. when i really get in it it will scream the secondaries open up at 3400 and it cranks up to 5-6 and won't go past that. i think the tranny is waiting for it to get to 7 but it never gets there so i gotta lift the pedal to shift. really makes the whole car a lot slower. also when i hit the pedal to the floor from a dead stop there is no tire squeal or anything. the IMRC cable is a bit frayed but i lubed it and limping it along till i can buy a new one. is there any way i can tighten it, it looks a lil loose.

well i took the thing apart and wheel works along with the cable, you'll hear it open up at 3400 revs it climbs real quick to 5-6 but won't make it to 7. the previous owner told me he put bigger fuel injectors in for the NOS it used to be ran on could that have anythinng to do with it?

Aftermarket injectors... Right.

Anyways, wire open the secondaries, and try it. If it is not better, than that is not the problem. Easy check.

There's a simple way to see if you have "aftermarket" fuel injectors. What color are they?

Mike's right about the butterflies.

so what does that mean? stock? i thought the stock ones were yellow? and i jammed the butterflys open tonight, i got a lil higher in rpm's but still didn't pass 6, maybe it wasnt open enought, who knows but i bet its the imrc box and the cable is stretched out too much. is there a easy way to tighten it?

Not to be a **** here, but read what I posted. Wire them open all of the way. And drive it. If it is better, great. If not, move on, that is not your problem.

Orange = 19 lb/hr injectors.

They are stock. You were lied to.

V8 SHO injector on left, "Mustang" (actually off a Vulcan Taurus, but they're the same size) injector on right. Note color of SHO injector (grey Vulcan injector is 14 lb/hr).
