was just looking at various high flow cat offerings and noticed there is no air pump on the sho..

havent realized this before. i thought all cats need an air pump so they dont become clogged before they get a change to warm up.

Most Ford passenger vehicles in the US these days don't have an air pump. You can still find them on some models in states like CA with stricter emissions laws, but they are fairly rare now. Most of today's secondary air systems use electric pumps and are controlled by the PCM.

Performance-wise, be happy the SHO doesn't use one. Even the systems that use electric pumps can cost some power.

Only way the electric pumps cost power is because of weight. They only run the first 30 secs to 2 minutes when the car is started.
