Ok, so my factory CD player has stopped working. It only plays sometimes and often clicks for a few minutes before it begins to play. It won't always eject the disc, it's just messed up. What are some good CD players to look at? I'm not looking to spend a whole lot here so give me a few options at various prices.

What is the factory setup like? I know nothing about audio, all I know is that I want a new CD player and a bit more bass. I have no idea how to get it. Can I use whatever is in the stock system or will I need to replace/add stuff? Does anyone know the specs on the stock system? It sounds pretty nice now but I'd like a little more bass for drum beats.

It's a 94 with JBL.

Thanks for your help and patience. :)

What is your price range? I can reccomend many good cd players. As for more bass, I think a single 10" would be the best solution. Let me know what you want to spend and I can come up with some options.

Well, being the newb I stated myself as in the title I have no idea what I should expect to pay.
What can $300 get me, that's what I spent on my MAF and lpm. I'll go higher if need be but I'd like to know why I'm spending money and I just don't know enough (read: anything) yet.

Ok, not knowing anything doesn't keep me from guessing. And I'm guessing I can trust a Pioneer CD player, I've used them before and they sound nice. So is the DEH-1400 any good? It looked like it had good numbers for it's price. The fact that I don't know what the numbers mean is irrelevant at this point. They were higher than other players that cost the same amount.

As for the Subs...I have no clue what the numbers mean and they all seem to cost alot, so I still need lots of help there.

As for the sub, what are you looking for it to do? Do you want it to be loud so many can hear or would you like it to have really good souns quality or a mix? Right now I would reccomend the Alpine Type R sub powered by a JBL 300.1. Car Media1 has them for $100 each. Which I might add is a very good deal. I may be able to get them for a lower price also. Then you'll need an 8-10 gauge wiring kit and one RCA wire. That will be around $30-$40. As for the Pioneer cd player, let me ask around. I think it will work, I just want to make sure about something. What price and where did you find the cd player for? I can look around for a better price. If you want my email is [email protected]

Hey, I've done some investigating and found the cd player for about $100. I was looking at other ones and found that for the original price of $150 that I found the 1400 for, you can get the 4300 for. I think the 4300 is a better deck. It has more options and features and makes it a little easier to wire. As for the price I might be able to price match it with another company and get it a better price. Also you'll need a wiring harness to connect the cd player to the stock wires. This you can get at Circuit City for arounf $45. So I'll run down what I reccomend, its price and place I found it:

CD Player: Pioneer DEH 4300, $150 at etronics.com but may be able to price match it at sounddomain.com, therefore getting it for less.

Sub- 10" Alpine Type R, $100-110 at carmedia1.com

Amp- JBL 300.1, 100 at carmedia1.com

Amp Kit- 8 gauge kit, around $30.

RCA cable- 12-16 ft it mounted in trunk, 6 ft if under seat. $10-20 depending on length

Speaker wire- 16 gauge at the most, cheap, could even get it at Home Depot for like 15c and foot.

Wiring Harness- $45 at Circuit City.

As for the amp kit and RCA cable, if you decide to try and price match with sounddomain for the cd player, I would purchase the rca and amp kit from them also. That way you can save on shipping. Let me know what you think. My email is about and my AIM name is underdog1924.
