I have a 2011 SHO and recently had a 445 max Boost installed by my local dealership. The performance is outstanding and the MPG is up a full 2 MPGs. Here's my problem:

The car is making a wheezing (sounds like an owl hooting noise) when on or off the throttle. Hennesey has been very slow to respond with a solution. First off, what is making the noise and second what is the fix? It is so loud I cannot carry passengers without comments.

I must tell you try as my local dealer might, he could not get the airbox installed. Said it would not fit without cutting. So although the air filter is secure it is not enclosed at all.

Thanks for any help!

Could be an leak, what does the airbox look like? I had a K&N Typhoon system on my '12 and you could here the motor sucking air, might be that. Do you have your BOV uncorked so they VTA? Just asking, but what lead you to buy from Henessey? I'm curious to see how they help with your problem, they have a bad rep.

Sometimes the tune will cause the engine/BOV to emit duck call/hooting sounds on liftoff. Have this happening with some folks with other tuners' tunes as well. So I don't think you have to worry about it.

But the airbox not being properly installed could intensify a heat soak problem, or create a leak as already suggested above. Def give Hennessey a call. Is the dealership certified to do the 445 package?

This sounds reminiscent of the "whonk" noise some other guys are hearing with Livernois tunes. Its kind of a nice noise though and it makes me smile as opposed to cringe. What you're describing might be a leak. Be sure to check all of the turbo piping.

Every. Single. Connection.

Also, is the MaxBoost 445 good for 445 at the crank or the wheels? I believe it's a tune, CAI, downpipes and exhaust, right?

Your are right on what is in the 445 package. I am not sure how hp is measured but I can assure you a VERY noticeable increase in power and fuel economy. The exhaust note is very sweet. If my SHO was a legit 5.2 0-60 car before it is certainly a second faster now. It will chirp the tires out of the hole.

This noise Is way too loud to tolerate and yes Hennessey has disappeared w their support. Guess I should have found this message board before.

So other then checking for an air leak, not much to do? Would putting the air cleaner box in make that much of a difference in sound reduction?

I think it would. Try taking a continuous deep breath through your mouth, and imagine that sound manyfold. Normally negated by an enclosed intake system.

Are you friendly with the place that installed the 445 package. See if it possible to put the stock turbo piping, and stock box back in place. Sounds like that is where your problem is. What has worked for me is a modded Airraid or modded stock box. Hope you get your problem fixed, sorry about Hennessey disappearing, hard lesson to learn. Most of us have used Ecopowerparts, Unleashed Tuning and as for me Livernois Motorsports.

Yeah, generally I'm a research first guy. But I got in a hurray and took the word of a friend who had always given good advice before. No more Hennessey for me. A hard lesson to learn.

Based on the messages here, I am going to ask for a reinstall of the intake side of the kit and somehow have the airbox included in the install.
