Hello Everyone. I would first like to start off by mentioning that I have already spoken with Beth in regards to this thread. All is cleared for the go-ahead. So with that being said lets press on.:)

I would like some input in regards to a new wheel style preferance. I have a simple format below that you can reply to specifically to make it easier to keep up with accuratley. If we can keep this somewhat on track as best we can it will help my data collection.:)

I am interested in casting a Mustang Replica wheel for the SHO if anyone is interested in having one more taylored to the SHO we can put something together. I just need the questions below answered, then we can press on to style options that are available to me for casting. Fair enough??

Best Width for all Generations of the SHO:

Preferred Rim size 17" or 18"

Best posative offset for the particular preferred width

Preferred Finish

Hubcentric is not an option...Is this OK?? Hubcentric Rings correct this with no issues or ill results..A simple Yes or No please.[/

Any added comments out of the scope of the questions outlined.

I appreciate your participation in this thread.

Thanks in advance.

A nice Bullitt/torque thrust II style in an 18" size probably in a 8" to 8.5" wide setup. Optimal offset would probably be in the 35-38mm to push them out as far as possible. A higher 40mm offset would also be in order to clear bigger calipers.

The only wheels that will fit on the SHO that even resemble the Bullitts are the 16" 2001 Taurus SES wheels. Too small and sits in too far.

Hook it up and I might just buy some

Also look at the 99 Cobra R wheels and the 2003/4 Cobra wheels.

I am certainly intrigued by this proposal. I am no expert on wheel sizing but I do believe in more funtionality than looks. A 17 in. rim with a similar look to the cobra r in either polished or painted trim without the hubcentric ring would be nice. Weight and strength is a huge concern to me. I would like to see a wheel that is lighter than stock so unsprung weight with tires is as close to stock as possible. However, strong enough to no bend or crack on the rough PA roads equipped with a reasonably sized performance tire. I know this sounds like alot but I am just excited that someone is finally taking the initiative to build a purpose built wheel for the sho. The listed above are just some suggestions that I personally would like to see.

Something silver. Not a big deal.

Not a big deal if rings are available

Try to keep them as light as possible.

The hubcentric rings are prefectly acceptable as long as they're not made of cheap plastic or freakin lead! These types of rings wear out, crack, and ultimately become a bigger PITA then centering the wheel w/o would be. No way of making that a yes/no answer.

I know its a lil offtopic but do they still make the SVT Tbird replicas in out bolt pattern? I heard somewhere that the wheel is discontinued?

If someone made a 2000 Cobra R replica wheel in a 17x8, I would buy them in a heartbaet.

IMO black 17"x 8" or 8.5" black Torque Thrust II's would be schweet. Also, I think bigger Slicers would look cool too. Just my two cents.

17x8 slicer sounds like the best, they look so natural with the SHO, but a bigger size and width is what the slicer desperatly needed to begin with....

I also like the wheels on LoudSho's sig, they look cool in motion

also I think if someone came out with a 17x8 slicer replica that actually looked like a slicer, it would be the most popular aftermarket set of wheels for the Taurus community.

I suggested an 18 inch slicer because to me spending the money to get a slicer only 1 inch bigger is silly. From 10 feet away you probably wouldn't even notice the difference. As for a 17" I always LOVED the SVT T-Bird wheels except for them being a little heavy. I think most Ford Racing wheels would look good on a SHO especially because they would look like you could have bought your car from a Ford dealer with them on it.
