Good afternoon all and thanks in advance for any help you might be able to give. First off, I'm not a real technical person and do not work on my own car so please use rookie terms.

I have a 95 3.2 SHO with an ATX. I bought it used in 98 with about 30k miles. I noticed a kick out of first gear within a week so I took it to a dealership since it was under warranty. When I got it back the kick was still there so i had them take it back. The second time I got it back the kick was gone and they said it was a new ATX. About two years later the kick was back but it was also slipping in other gears and of course it was out of warranty so I took it to a transmission shop that was recommended to me. He said that he rebuilt the ATX and the kick and slipping was gone. A year and a half later, three weeks ago, it's all back and worse then ever. What would you suggest. Could it be something where I wouldn't have to replace the ATX AGAIN.

Thanks for any response I might get. I really appreciate it.

Doc,
I have had similar tranny problems, and 2 places in the metroplex come highly recommended. Phoenix transmissons in Weatherford, and Plano transmissions. Both know of the shortcomings of the sho atx trannys, and could fix you up nicely, including a shift kit. Good luck with your sho, and feel free to join our Texas SHO club board on topica.com. Just search for LSSHOC. We also have a chapter here on this board too.....as far as a temporary fix, you might try a flush, but it might not work.

Thanks for the info. I called Plano and am going to bring it in next week. By the way, what is a shift kit and what does it run?

A shift kit, by Trans-go, increases the firmess in shifts and prevents the "looking" of the gear in between shifts. Usually the kits themselves are relatively inexpensive, ($75 or so), but what gets you is the installation. When you are getting a rebuild done anyways, you might as well do that as well. You will notice the firmer shifts right away, and if you want to get on it, you don't waste time finding shifts, it hits them firmly and gets you on the way. Good luck and I know Plano will do you a good job....
