New Tranny fluid helps

Just a quick point from the tons of work I did on the SHO last week. The tranny had been getting tough to shift lately - especially 1 to 2, and into 1 from stop. I was concerned it was tranny internals starting to go. One of the things I did in all this work was replace the 4-yr old Redline D4 with some fresh Mobil 1 ATF. Now it shifts like butter.

So if the tranny shifts unhappily, and you are failry sure it isn't the clutch (I was pretty sure), then try some fresh good fluid, and see if it helps.

I used the same fluid a few years back and it didnt last me that long, you must be gentle on your SHO.
it only lasted one year with me, about 18k, it became hard to get in gear when cold, and when warmed up it would grind gears if I shifted normally,
when I pulled the luid out it was not pretty red like when I pumped it in, it turned dark dark brown and was thick.
needless to say I wasnt buying that brand no more.

I found a better lubricant that last up to 20k, I try to change it around 20k,
it might last longer cause when I dump the fluid it is still red and very fuild as it comes out.
but at only $20 for 3 quarts it stays fresh in my 5 speed
hope yours stays shifting well for many miles to come.

I had good luck with Mobil 1 ATF on the fluid batch before this D4 stuff, and it worked quite well. I only changed it the last time because I was doing the clutch, and not because it was hard shifting. This will probably be the last tranny fluid change this car sees in its life.

I am not as ******* the SHO as I used to be. It's my daily driver and getting old, so I haven't been pounding it as much. But I did just pick up a backup car this week, so perhaps that will change a bit
