I got a new to me 2010 Sho on Monday. Discovered the alignment and wheel balancing was all messed up. Got that taken care of today. Now noticing that when I turn on the air, there is a clicking noise that comes out, goes on for about 3-5 seconds and then stops. Then it's fine. Any idea on what it is? I'm going to take it to the dealer on Friday.

Any thoughts!!!

Mine started doing that after I pressed the recirculate button recently. Now it does it on start up. Ive found that pressing the recirculate button stops it and then it resumes when you press it again.

It seems to be in the mechanism that operates that "door" in the cooling system. Too cold here to tear into it now, but I wonder if anyone has isolated the exact/cause part? And how hard it is to access?

Please post up, if you find out anything.

It's called the "blend door". I had to have it changed in mine and it seems to be problem over many cars. The dealer did mine (extended warranty) but from what I've read on this forum, it is doable if you are good with mechanics. FWIW, mine was making the clicking noise but also I had heat on the drivers side and cold air on the passengers side.

Thank you all, I'm at the dealer right now getting it looked at. I will post up when they give me the news on what it is.

it ended up being an actuator or motor that opens the blower door that was shot and caused the clicking. Good as new!

Excellent. That was what I was looking for.

It can be had from Ebay for $19 shipped from tasca:

NEW OEM FORD LINCOLN MERCURY OEM BLEND DOOR ACTUATOR #AA5Z-19E616-C

Took no more than 15 minutes to replace this weekend.

1. Release the glove box door damper at the left side by slipping it from the oblong hole.
2. Drop the glove box down and pull it free of the hinges.
3. Release the electrical connector on the old actuator by sliding the red tab away and pressing the tab on the plug.
4. Remove two 5/16" screws and the actuator comes out.
5. Line up the keyed portion of the new actuator and rotate the new actuator into position to replace the 5/16" screws and re-attach.
6. Reinstall glove box and reattach damper.
