Just wanted to start by saying hello to all in here I am new to the site myself.

I am looking to buy a 2013 SHO loaded up with the PP as a must in it. My question is I do a lot of highway driving about 75,000 miles a year on average. I currently have a 2010 and 2013 Taurus Limited both used for my work cars daily. I have never had any issues with them at all and my current 10 has 155,000 miles on it and looks and runs like it has 50k miles.
What are anyone's thoughts or experiences with the newer sho issues or has anyone ran them over 100 to date etc.

I actually have a 2013 SHO that I may buy this weekend just have to convince myself that a black car will be ok with me a I am a clean freak and worry about every little scratch that may show up more on a black car. All my current Taurus are white cars but feel I need a color change so it feels like a new car by view at least.

Also I will be selling my 10 limited if I do in fact pick this sho or another one in the next week the most I hope. Car is perfect maintained and only adult driven needs nothing at all. Has every option except nav. Has roof, heated and ac seats back up cam etc. Anyone that may be interested in this can contact me anytime at all also.

Thank you and I look forward to most post and chats with you all on here soon.

Is there a reason you're considering the PP a must since you do so much highway driving? Are you planning to get the car on the track?

The reason I ask is I have a 2011 with PP and kind of wish I had not gone with the PP. The ride is rather rough with the PP and the tires suck in anything but warm or hot, dry pavement. At least in 2011 it was possible to get the PP style wheels as an option on the non-PP cars and with all-season tires versus the F1 Supercar tires. For your highway trips and unpredictable weather you might be happier with the non-PP version.

Thank you so much for the advice on the PP package. I think I will look into one that may not have that package and see what may be out their in a 2013 still less that option.

Do you know what other options besides the tires and suspension will be lost getting a 13 less the PP please? I like my cars to have all the option toys but if it's only the tire and suspension I would loose that may be the way to go then.

Thanks again for the advice I am really glad I asked that on here.

When I bought mine I didn't even know about the PP option, and after I committed to the purchase (had to wait 2 weeks for delivery) I crossed my fingers that I didn't get the PP with the 20 inch wheels. I drive a lot for work, over 40k a year and didn't want to deal with the summer tires/winter tires swap. Plus the cost of the 20 inch performance rubber is insane.

Just put new shoes on her, went with the factory option Eagle RS-As, $275 a piece, and were about the only thing I could find in my area that didn't need 2-3 weeks of shipping. Tires Plus and Expert Tire in my area had my size in stock, Bridgestone Duallers, for over $350 a piece and after checking, and those were truck tires. Idiots.

Hello. I am also new to SHO, as well as to this forum, so I hope I am not disregarding protocol by posting this here. I recently bought a used 2013 SHO, 19" wheels, no PP, no moon roof, no adaptive cc, no contoured seats, but most of the other options are on. Truly like it so far. Only weakness: Gas mileage. It was a rental for its first owner and it had less than 16K mi on it. I have a couple questions. The first is: This car came from MI where a front license plate is not required, and I live in TX, where it is. I may be missing something, but I do not see a license place rack on the front. If I am correct, then do you recommend the STO an SHO, or something else. Second question: My (factory) keyless entry code received from the dealer seems almost impossible to master. Third question: Do you recommend high test for normal use? To the original poster on this thread, I would say go for the newer model. I am very happy without the PP and 20" wheels, but that is just me. Try to get adaptive cruise control if you can. I passed it up in an older model to get the newer model (my choice), but I enjoyed it on the test drive of the older.

The 2013 SHO PP has a few additional performance options for tracking the car:
additional fluid coolers
lower final drive gear ratio, so the MPG will be slightly lower vs a non-PP
Alcantara steering wheel inserts
Ability to disable advancetrac
20" Rims with Goodyear F1Summer Tires
Different Springs
Different Brake Pads(I think), something different about the brakes.

Not sure if I am allowed to ask on this forum but what would you be asking for your silver one please.

I tried to send a private message but I think I am blocked from being able to send them for some reason.

Sorry for the delay in responding. I somehow missed this post.

There's a pretty good list below of what is available with the PP, but what you CANNOT get with the PP is the adaptive cruise control (something you might like with the highway trips) or a spare tire. With the PP, you only get a can of fix a flat with an air compressor. The can of fix a flat is integrated in to the compressor and expires after a couple of years. Yes, the can o' goo can be replaced without replacing the compressor, but if you want to keep it stock, you need to get the goo from Ford.

I'm not sure what the "STO" is, but you can order a factory license plate holder from Ford and either install it yourself or have the dealer install it. I'm a bit surprised if you bought the car locally that they didn't provide the plate holder for you. The plate holder comes with a couple of the 1/4 diameter rivets. You line the holder up on the bumper, drill two 1/4 holes, use a heavy duty rivet tool to install the rivets, then install the license plate. I've done this on a couple of Fords. If you have the large rivet tool it's not bad to do. In both cases for me though, the lot I bought the cars from ordered the plate holder and had it mailed to my home since I told them I could install it.

Second question: My (factory) keyless entry code received from the dealer seems almost impossible to master.

You can program a personal entry code that might be easier for you to remember/enter. There are details in the owner's manual on how to do so. But, with the Intelligent Access key you don't need to enter the code, unless you don't have the key with you. You can simply swipe your finger down the keypad and it will unlock the car. Again, this process is explained in the owner's manual. If you don't have a copy of the owner's manual you can download a PDF of it from this site. There really are a lot of neat features that are explained in the manual, I highly recommend skimming through it.

Third question: Do you recommend high test for normal use?

Yes, high octane will get you better performance, possibly better fuel economy, and reduce the chances of pre-detonation. Even though Ford claims lower octane is fine, there have been multiple reports of pre-det with this powertrain. I've been with my wife twice in her Ecoboost MKT where there's been pre-det. The first time I made a comment about it she said, "Oh, that was just a truck with noisy exhaust." We were merging on to the highway and there were no trucks around. I've only used 91 octane or better in my SHO and never had an issue.

Thank you all for the advice and items to think about. I ended up buying a 13 sho today from a dealer not to far away from me. It was driven by the dealer owner for a very short time so was never titled or registered. It ended up having the PP on it so that is what I will be driving now I guess. Time will tell if its ok for the amount or driving I do etc

One thing the owner did was order a factory spare tire for the car since it had the air pump only flat fix item. He said he just did that to ease his mind and never needed it at all.

One of the first things getting done is window tint next week and I ordered a ****** passport 9500ci radar detector system. It cost a little but of cash but I think will be well worth the money it cost. I will keep all posted on how this radar system works once installed. Better be darn good for 2000.00 cost for just the system LOL.

Again thank you all for the advice and I will look forward to many more conversations etc from here on out.

I just got my 2015 last week and want to get the windows tinted this week, but am debating between 35% and 20%. My hubby has 15% on his SS and I can't see at night when I drive the damn thing, the car is Magnetic...any pics or input would be appreciated. Thanks!

SHOJLUS: I had 35% on my Deep Impact Blue SEL and although sold as 35% it tint metered at local P.D of 45% I could have gone a little lower. I am holding my tint on the new 14 SHO until I get to Texas and looking at 25% I would go with what's Legal avoid attention. That being said I wouldn't recommend darker than about 25-30% just to still keep some outward vision especially at night.

FYI Magnetic is my second choice of color, the 14 SHO I got was a leftover Ingot Silver and will look good with 25 or 30%

FYI#2: If you are looking for eyebrow tint remember the AS-1 Line in the upper corner. That is a reference line for tint, although mine was legal in Maryland down to the AS-1 Line I had to have them trim back. After installation even though legal it felt like it was obstructing my Periphal vision so they trimmed it back to 4" which kept it dark above to keep out sun/glare but still able to see out and not get distracted with the line below. If legal I recommend 5 or 0 if available for the eye brow tint.
