new switch,still no turn signals

Gen-1 1989.
I had this problem once before and replaced multi function switch.
It happened again so I purchase a used oem switch from a forum member after reading about durability of Well`s switches.
Still no turn signals!
I have all other functions and the cornering lights illuminate but no turn signals!
All bulbs are ok...
and ideas????
b-4 I take it to shop and get *****.

May be the flasher unit, it is located right above the fuse box. Happened on my car. MOTORCRAFT Part # SF581, #E6DZ13350A .

would the safety flashers still work if the flasher unit was bad??

Yes they would, that was the failure mode for mine as well. No turn signals, but it had cornering lights, and flashers. Turn signals would work occasionally.

Turn signals (among others) run off fuse #8, if you haven't checked that already.

I have no flashers OR hazard lights. Relay has been replaced, fuses are fine. All other functions on MFS work. Still a bad MFS? I heard there are two relays for the flasher system, any truth to that?
