This is for a '98. Currently has a bit over 115K on original struts. Got new tires the other day and Mechanic recommended new struts. Been needing them for a while but been putting it off due to cost.

Here's the estimate they gave me, sounds about right?

Front Sensa Trac Strut $74.99 Labor $81.00 Total $311.98
Rear Gas Struts $85.99 Labor $108.00 Total $387.98

Shop Supply $35.00

Total after tax: $752.81

Way too much money for a run of the mill strut.

If you are mechanically inclined it isn't hard to take the strut and spring out and pay someone to swap the springs.

You also should get new strut mounts as I'm sure yours are worn out. Or will fall apart when they try to swap springs.

SARC struts are around $600 for all four.

They knew the car was a SHO. Not sure if they new what SARC was. I doubt it. Puzzled me when the estimate sheet they gave me just listed gas struts. I doubt I'll go back there anyway for additional service. It was a local Mr. Tires. The mechanic did a good job on the tires, balancing and allignment. Also got the rotors resurfaced and new pads all the way around. Their pads stop fairly well. Alot better than the last set of pads I had when I had the pads replaced at the dealer. They made a billing mistake and charged me for an oil change and new wipers which I never got. Now I'm stuck having to call a corporate customer service number to get a refund and all I ever get is a voicemail with no call back yet.

Yes it's worth the money, that's why SHO is SHO! BTW I'm going to change to non SARC struts LOL! No money, but have new struts from my 92 SHO.
