I am going to buy some new speakers very soon. I just need to price things out, and figure out what brand to buy. I have been told that AudioBahn carries a quality product with good prices. And also, are the front speakers 6.5" or 5.25" I've heard both sizes from different idiots at my local Circuit City. I have never taken my front door panels off, and have never looked. Also, what would be a good sub and amp combo for the stock location? I now have all stock speakers, an Aiwa cd player, and a 10" sub with a 300 watt amp. Thanx in advance.

Aiwa and Audiobahn both suck far as sound quality. If you are getting aftermarket speakers you should get good speakers. Pioneer and Alpine kick ass. Pioneer Rev series or Alpine type R series are the way to go.

The fronts are 6.5", and the rears are 5x7.

Pretty much anything will be better than stock. The Pioneer revs are nice, but for the same price you can get Infinity Kappas, which are awesome speakers and can handle twice the power if your running a 4 channel amp.

If you go with a component setup consider CDT. Mine are absolutely amazing in sound quality.

My Shop carries Pioneer, Phoenix Gold, Alpine, sony, mtx, and MA audio, if your looking for sick highs get the alpine s-series, if your looking for some bass and highs, i'd so some component alpine R-series or even coaxials, for the rears, a 6x9 conversion wouldn't be a bad idea, i did it in my car and it works quite well for me, makes your ears bleed, so basically, alpine alpine alpine thumbs_u

The rear speakers are 6x8, not 5x7. I have Pioneer speakers and absolutely love them. Far better sound quality over the worn out Ford speakers. I now have crisp highs and thumping lows running the stock head unit.

Let's say I wanted to spend $500 for the front speakers, the rear 6x8's and the rear stock sub replacements. Can you give me an idea as what to get? Along with a new amp for the stock sub enclosure. Thanx again.

And if you haven't noticed, I suck with electronics. Mechanics is my department.

Well, first off, the fronts can't have too deep a magnet, or they won't fit in the stock location. If the speakers you like are too deep then the 5.25" are the way too go. I have a/d/s/ 325is which are the 5.25" components. But many 6.5" can fit.

In my opinion, if you want to replace all your speakers for $500, I would get $300 fronts, $50 rears and a $150 sub.

I've yet to hear a set of Alpine speakers that I've fallen in love with. The subs are getting better, though. Boston Acoustics, MB Quart, even JL Audio are decent. My rule of thumb is that the best of one sector of car audio is not the best at another. Head units, amplifiers and speakers all seem to be seperate entities. High end head units tend to be weak in amps/or speakers. High end amp manufacturers tend to lag behind in head unit or speaker design. And so forth.
