On a SHO with 100+K miles, if shims available in the kit do not allow setting clearance at the recommended nominal value, would you lean toward using a shim resulting in looser (more) clearance or tighter (less) clearance?

(Of course, I could order the exact size but I'd really like to get this SHO on the road):D

Thanks

I would go with shims that make the clearances tighter (less) as long as they are still within spec. More chance for higher valve lift that way. Make them too tight and you can burn valves though.
