New Problem - Hood Latch Won't Open Hood

The latch that pops the hood on my 97 doesn't work and I can't open the hood. Is there any other way to open it?

You might be able to get to it from underneath the car by pulling on the cable itself by the latch if you can reach it that is I have a gen 2 so I dont know about a gen 3, good luck.

after our car was repaired in the front end we couldnt open our's eather. I ahd to pull the release lever inside while Tim forced it up enough to pull the lever. when I was alone and just kinda banged on the hood where the latch is, that worked half the time.

Try grabbing the hood by the headlight and have someone pull the hood release. Mine sometime doesn't want to pop up and it only take a bit of help.

Once you have it open, **** the latch assembly with some lithium/wd-40. You should be good from then on.

If you adjust the latch down a bit it will apply enough pressure that when the cable releases it, the hood will pop up with authority.......:type:
