If you have roadside assistance on your insurance have them call Pop-A-Lock to slim-jim in.

Like AAA?I Dont believe that's an option for me.
Why cant you use your key? I had to do it like twice and its a little funky sometimes you gotta jimmy it while turning since its a mechanism that is not used and possibly a little rough

You can get this or put together similar items. Wedge the door a little open and a tool to reach the internal handle to open the door

If the key is the correct key for the car, it's likely that the lock cylinder is frozen from non use. Spray some liquid lock ease into the cylinder and work the key in and out and twist to work the lubricant in.

I miss metal coat hangers. that said, a lock out kit is great to have, wouldnt leave it in your car though, useless if you need it, bad if a cop sees it.

I'm trying to remember where the alternator and starter are on the car. Any chance you can scoot underneath the car, remove the underbelly liner, then connect a portable jump start pack to the starter or alternator and ground to get power to car to unlock with the fob?

Neither starter or alternator is accessible from under the car.

This should be a reminder to everyone to check their door lock for proper function. Everyone uses the remote and never uses the emergency key.

Yes I want to thank this forum again. I have learned thru others fiasco's that you MUST exercise the manual key lock AND the rear sun shade. If not they will stop working!

Along with regular fluid changes for the transmission, PTU and RDU. Our 2013 MKS Eco-Boost is at 108K miles (Note we bought it used with about 24K miles) and has been totally reliable and amazingly we still have the original front brake pads! Yes it is my wife's car so gentle driving for sure and totally stock. Which I tried hard to change but she knows what I do to cars and that's modify them!

The only big repair was caused by people (Including me I am afraid) that did not realize the HVAC panel controls are TOUCH controls and NOT PUSH controls. We had the window tint redone because of bubbling due to age. When finished with the job he started the car and ran the temperature up to max to dry the window film.

When we got the car back it would only go to maximum heat on the drivers side regardless of what button we pushed. Totally confused me until I did some searches on this forum. Found out it was such a common failure that there are companies that will repair the control panel. Sent it out for repair several years ago and now we are gentle on the buttons!

I come here to see what that car could have been with mods. I can only dream but I still have my car so not all bad!

@Tbird6 very nice write up, can't say this enogh, probably one of the best car forums I ever joined. Many forums that have higher end cars, don't have owners crawling underneath. Or ones with a younger crowd that snipes at posts. Puts down posters for being 'dumb' though so many posts about many topics are already here search is our friend.

Glad your car is in great health.
