Hi Shoforum! I'm excited to join and show you my new to me 2013. It has 98K and is pretty clean in and out. I live in the northeast so wanted something fun and good in bad weather. It was either a previous gen charger R/T with AWD or and AWD SHO. It runs pretty well and I had a mechanic check it out before the purchase. I'd like to tap into the collective wisdom to ask a few questions.
-First any recommendations for proper care? I've read changing all the fluids is a good place to start.
-Also the previous owner added what I think is black vinyl wrap over the chrome(or whatever it is) around the side passenger windows and strip across the deck lid. Looks good from a distance but when you get closer you can see how its aged and peeling off. Do you think some heat from a hairdryer is a good way to remove it? I don't want to damage the paint or the chrome (or whatever it is) underneath.
-Finally, Had the interior professionally cleaned and detailed and found some SHO carpeted floormats. Next I'll take it back for the exterior, for a buff and wax. The shop also recommended a coating for the wheels and tires that protects and keeps the break dust from clinging as much so it washes off very easily. Any recommendations around this?

Thanks!

That's either vinyl or plastidip if it's wrinkling. I don't know if the chromed plastic will flake or peel off when you remove it. Recommendation is change the driveline fluids especially the ptu fluid. Nice car. Welcome.

Welcome. Congrats on the new ride.

Do change PTU and RDU fluid as soon as you can. Not glamorous but could save you in the long run.

As for your peeling, the window trim and trunk spear should be safe underneath. A little heat would help to peel it off but don’t roast it. Work a small spot at a time.

I'm curious on how this works out so post back when you tackle it. I hate the fake chrome stuff but wrinkling cover up isn't good.

OK I will, because aside from that issue, you would not think the car was 7 years old. Any pics of yours?

No pics. I have an older model at this time and parked for repair work at a friend's house. Owned one form or another SHO since mid 90's.

I haven’t taken the trunk spear off yet to see but I know the window trim IS metal not chromed plastic.

I remember @SM105K saying it was really easy to bend it when he took it off for paint. I always assumed the trunk spear was metal too but he’d be the one that knows.

Hi thanks again. This forum is great! Is there a gallery of member's cars? I'd love to see more SHOs.

All the window trim is metal and super easy to bend. Plus putting it back on sucks.

The trunk spear is plastic. You need to open the trunk, remove all the clips and liner, and you will see where it is attached.

Good luck. Nice ride.

Thanks again! As soon as we have some decent weather I'll take a stab at it. Any pics of your SHO?
