New member, 2010 Taurus SHO Metalic Black 129XXX miles. Car gets 25% less mpg than when new. What’s the best way to recover some of that?

Also, just replaced the passenger side headlight bulb D3S…light comes on when starting but goes out after a few seconds???

Thanks all

Does the car have a tune? I lost an average of 4 mpg from stock when putting a fairly conservative tune on mine. Any other bolt on parts and a beefier tune might get you to 25% more fuel burned.

is that 25% off the EPA rated fuel economy or have you owned the car since new and observed the decline? what kind of mileage are you getting now?

Replace primarily O2 sensors. Winter fuel sucks too. Remember if you warm your car up it the winter for 10 minutes this is almost an hour of idle time.

Unfortunately, I just totaled my white 2012 SHO. I understand that Ford only made around 1800 SHO's in 2012. I am still upset about it. I had it tuned a couple of years ago and the gas mileage dropped about 4 mpg. I have just replaced my 2012 with a blue 2011. I feel extremely blessed and lucky to have found it. It is a 1-owner (until I purchased it) and has every option. I even have the factory window sticker. My "new" SHO is getting an average around 20 mpg. I am thinking that I won't tune this one.

I average around 18mpg but it's mostly stop and go traffic. I've seen 27mpg going down the interstate. I've been tuned for all but 6 months of owning the car.
