Hi, I'm new to the list. I had a '92 SHO and loved the V6. Performance and looks. I've often thought of swapping to something, but never did.

Years have past, and my love for that Engine hasn't. I was wondering about using a Gen 2 in something, but wondered if I could purchase the SHO Gen 2 or 1, and whether there were parts for it these days??

I surfed for crate engines and engines in general and only found one at a junk yard.

Are these engines still available? If so, from who? What about parts?

I can't believe that these engines would no longer be built, they seemed to be a perfect combination of efficiency and power when those 32 valves opened up.

plenty of used engines available, especially 3.2 in jy and from private sellers, either in cars or alone.

parts are starting to get a little difficult, but as of now one can still get by.

much of what Ford learned from Yamaha in this engine is available in the current Duratec engines plus variable valve timing and more newer technology. they were great in 1989, but are nothing special any more, except in looks.

I know of a 3.0 and a 3.2 about to be junkyarded near Chicago because nobody wants them. Inverse Andy wants $100 each. You speak of parts that's another story, for starters rod bearings are not made anymore, should I continue with what else we can't get? It's not a pretty list. The Diehard guys have been saving stuff for years for this reason.
Like Jason said in your other post, 24 valves, 32 in the V8.

Thanks for the responses.

It appears that the SHO Gen1 or 2 isn't the engine to swap anymore due to parts. For the price, it may still be a great choice for buggies, and off-road carts.

The looks of the Engine was one of my main interests in using it. Along with it's performance. I had a Gen 2 SHO, heavy car, but it really performed great. I thought in a litter vehicle it would really burn up the road.

I'll have to check out the Duratech..

Thanks for all the responses.

cheers
