I doubt the factory amp will push it very well. The new sub should at least 6 ohm impedence also (like the factory one) or you could fry the amp fast.

In that case do you know of any good 8" subs with a 6 ohm impedence level? I would like to stick with JBL but i dont think they make a 8" sub, maybe infiniti does.

jelloslug - are you 100% sure the factory sub is 6 ohm? i am asking as i am using a factory SHO sub amp for another project.

94 sho off - i would recommend a jl audio 8W0-8. its an 8 ohm sub, but if i'm not mistaken, the factory amp is rated at about 80ish watts @ 6 ohms (so probably 60ish at 8 ohms), which would be fine for the 8W0. they go for 70 or 80 at an authroized dealer

Im not 100% sure that the factory amp is 6 ohms, thats just what another member on the forum told me and they're pretty informative. there is a very nice 8" audiobahn that ive been researching and i will most likely buy it, its a little pricey about $100 but has dual voice coils and a nice 80 oz magnet.

True the factory sub is 6 ohm's nominal but for the past 3 months I've had a kicker 12" subwoofer hooked up that is rated at 4 ohm's but measures out on my fluke meter at 3.5 ohms compared to 5.8-5.7 ohms on the factory sub. No problems what so ever amp pushes the 12" fine and quite a bit louder than I expected. I felt I was taking a chance when I did this but now feel confident that the amp is fine under a 4 ohm load at any volume level even playing very bass heavy music, I've given them a hard work out and they are still kicking "amp and sub" that is. Only difference is the 12" is a lot deaper and slower than the factory sub which hit a little harder and faster but no real depth.
