Hello, new here but been watching a while. I have an 89 SHO with 200,000 on her, I am the second owner (well, third if you count my mom) and had the car for the last 140,000 miles. The car has been sitting for 2.5 years as we just moved back from Alaska. Before we left, I didn't do a thing to it, just drove it under the trees and left. So I come back and I had to put a new battery in it, she started right up, also added some SeaFoam, changed the fuel filter, and had a CV boot replaced that was leaking. I have dirvin it 500 miles since, is there anything else I should do? i.e. change coolent... Also, after storage my cruise doesn't work, it did before we parked it. Any ideas??? Finally, the A/C hasn't worked right in 5 years. I converted it to R-134A and it was good for awhile, then the last few years it would kick in and out, sometimes blowing cold air, other times just blowing hot air (I do have auto climate control). Self test says nothing is wrong, one guy told me I was low on the 134 stuff so he added, but it never did a thing. Do you think I need to remove a shim on the A/C clutch??? Thanks so much for your help, sorry this is long.. :hail:

No help on the A/C, just wanted to say welcome to the forum! And yes, I would change the coolant, probably most of the fluids if you can.

I am hoping you did an oil change and just did not list it. ;) May not hurt to change the rest of the fluids. Flush and replace the coolant and brake fluid for sure.

Oh yeah, welcome!

You need to change the oil, coolant, and I would bleed the brakes. I would also inspect your belts and make sure they arn't cracking and ready to break. Otherwise, inspect your tires make sure they are up to par and enjoy.

You might want to look into rod bearings since you are up there in miles.

Welcome to the 89 club ;) id concur with whats said thus far and also re-iterate the rod bearing idea. Mine has 150k and its getting them this winter break for added security. Its pretty cool to hear that one can sit that long and start right back up. I think the main thing is to go over it with a fine tooth comb and just make sure everything is safe and road worthy. Replace what looks like it needs and be happy. Wooo hooo 89 :thumb:

Thanks for the welcome guys, yes I did change the oil, just forgot to list it!!!!! Brakes were a little rusty, but that is coming off as I drive more. I have never heard of changing the brake fluid before, how does a guy do that?
