so i got my 3.2 in there, which btw is awesome! So anyway here is my new problem. My old engine as far as temperature goes would stay at "L" and the fan would kick on at above "M". Now i know that the temp sender units can't be taken seriously, but here is where my problem is. My new engine sits between A and M, i have had it all the way up to N, w/o the fan kicking on. Now i am thinking it could be that my fan relay went, or maybe my temp guage isn't reading real accurate, and i'm running cooler than its says. How would i find out? How can i trace this problem?

i know when you run the key-on-engine-off EEC test..the fans (as well as the fuel pump) are tested before the codes are displayed..

maybe checking the codes and hearing for the fans is a good idea? just so you know they work

The fan is comes on, so you know the circuit works, meaning the relay is OK.

The PCM controls the fan by virtue of a signal from the ECT, if the ECT is not reading coolant temp properly the fan won't kick on at the proper time.

The point about maybe the the temp gauge not reading correctly is worth considering, as well.

You can pull the ECT and test it but IMO if you do that you might as well replace it with a new one:

The best way get to the bottom of things is to read the temperature of the coolant, but you need special equipment for that.
