I just wish the depreciation rate justified keeping the SHO in the garage...i garage mine as well... even the low miles don't put much dent in the devaluing...

That's similar to what I did. Bought an 07 4.6 explorer damaged. Fixed her up. Lifted, 33 inch tires. Now she's my winter DD/off road/ adventure vehicle.

Congrats and great decision making IMHO.

Some would state relegating the SHO to only casual, fun driving, and/or track events etc. would be silly.....

However there are others, like myself, who would argue that these cars truly are special and hold their own so to speak, and for various reasons at that.

Enjoy the SHO, & enjoy that newly acquired daily driver.

I chose to pickup both an '01 Taurus SE in phenomenal shape, as well as an '06 Nissan Altima SE for DD use, as well as cars for the kids to drive.

Yeah I hate the way cars devalue. But I plan on keeping her awhile and want her to look good for awhile. I like the FX4 rangers and it's the 4.0L 5sp manual so it will be fun also. That explorer looks good!
I love the fx4s. And with a manual 4.0. Niiice. I wonder how rare the fx4/4.0/5sp combo is. What color is it? Post a few pix man. Lol

Some people seem to buy a SHO because there AWD and head out into the snow like there driving a plow, others lock them away and only bring them out on pretty days. I'm somewhere in the middle, its my nice car for road trips an such, right now there is a 5.0 in the garage and it has to stay there because the paint would not do well if it was left outside. I do have another stall but my old truck is parked there an until I can find someone to restore it who knows what there doing and won't steal from me its kind of blocking the door. My DD is a 99 Mercury Mystique lol that always smells of burning oil, has a permanent check engine light and has a dog seat on the passenger side, but it still gets 20 mpg gets me where I need to go.

I agree I will drive her on the weekends some or to nice events. I have a hair over 13k on her and was tired of putting her through the daily grind in traffic.

I am in the Daily Driver category too. I keep the SHO in garage and has literally moved about 50 feet in about three weeks. That move was just to get out of the way for crawl space ladder access in my garage. My D/D is a 2008 Volvo XC90 3.2 FWD. I have definitely been putting the Capital U in SUV to work, transporting dog, picking up charcoal grill at Home Depot, computer desk, road trip to Austin, etc. I already put 5K miles that would have normally been put on the SHO.

The initial joke when I got the Volvo was that I got a beater to keep the wear and tear down on the SHO. The joke now is that I got the Volvo in such good condition that I may need to get another beater to keep the mileage down on that. For just over $1K I got basically a new vehicle, O.L.F, CAF/EAF/Power steering fluid flush, fuel filter, spark plugs, Shocks, Struts, CV Axle etc.......Vehicle came with new tires and a reconditioned A/C system.

2008 was when VOLVO was still under FMC ownership before they sold out to the Chinese. Even the Coil packs have the FOMOCO logo.

They are both Silver with black interior......I hope I don't wake up too early and take the wrong vehicle to Ford Nationals in Carlisle............:lol::lol:

That's a good deal. I wanted a truck for house projects that didn't fit in the sho LOL!!. When I bought it they had just put new tires on it, new clutch, starter, brakes, flywheel, battery, throw out bearing, pressure plate. So I felt pretty good about all the service being done. And I did a complete tune up. And if I had the space I would have a fleet of cars lol.

~85 miles round-trip commute M-F for my '16 sho. I know that is Blasphemy around here... but Damn, the commute can be fun in this car.

No blasphemy here, I used mine for a DD for a 70~ mile round trip, and I miss it!!! If they didn't have a minimum mileage requirement on the take home company car, I would still use the SHO on nice days..

I am 60 miles R/T so the Volvo helps. Also since I work midnights with no parking garage at work and tornado season apparently is starting.....good to stay in the garage at home.
