Wedge something between B door pillar. Get a hanger and hook it around the door handle. I'm sure you can figure out the rest.

Fred79,

1. Call the local police department. The can unlock the door with a "slim-jim".

2 If the police will not do it, try a local towing service. Tow truck operators are allowed to posess a "slim-jim" in most States. You cannot have one as it is a "burglary tool" (in most states).

3. Call a locksmith. The have a variety of tools with which they can gain entry into your car, including a "slim-jim" and various "lock picks".

One you get in I recommend that you buy two new door locks from a Ford dealership parts department, and have them set to match your ignition key! (or at least one new lock)

The parts department should be able to set the lock cylinder up to match your key. A locksmith will charge a hefty fee to do this! See a service manual for the installation proceedure. It is not a difficult job. LOL rangerj

I got locked out of my car for over 40 minutes with engine running.
I had got in, started the car and stepped out to check something on the exhaust, windows were up wallet in the car.
When i shut door the car automatically locked the doors. eek!
This automatic lock thingy can really get you if youre not careful.make sure when you get in car open window a little if youre going to step out.

Very easy to break into these cars without doing any damage to them.

Use a coat hanger through the back door. Make a loop on the tip of the wire, pull out the rear of the door enough to get the hanger in. Loop it over the lock pin, keep the hanger level with the ground and pull back hard, as you slowly and simultaniously pull the lock up.

Keep the tension towards the rear as you pull up so the loop won't slip out.

Good luck.

Or, if you can reach up from the bottom of the engine (underneath), and get some jumper cables on the battery terminals. I've never looked to see if it can be done, so i'll have to see. Problably just go with the coat hanger method.

Can you charge the battery from the starter lug? This lug is easy to get to and I believe connected directly to the battery. Ground is easy.

Larry,

Only on the newer ones. My 89 has the starter relay mounted on the fenderwell. Would not be able to do it on mine. Maybe on the newer ones that have the starter relay on the starter itself.

i tryed teh hanger from the rear door and all i did was break both of my lock pins i pulled tight and they just snapped off must have been to cold.

so i ended up calling a locksmith it took him a few minuter to use a slim jim from teh front passenger door and i was in and just 79$ lighter i think i may take up my uncles offer to get me a set of slim jims. they could be help full.
got and and the battery was so dead when i hooked up my cheap ass 8ga. jumper cables it was burning up from all the current going through them so had to give up on that took it up to advanced and they chrged it for me on the quick charger only took a few hours but it read 0 cca on the teseter when i brought it in. so i'm back driving but i think my alternator is bad am starting a new thread for that.

I read all the replies and I dont see any year
of vehicle, and im sad to say even one reply from miami would take all day and a dictionary of curse words.
if its a gen1/2 then here is the easiest method
to gain entry,
drivers door works best, first and most important
item needed is a flat screwdriver, long, 6-9 inches and a skinny shank, not a craftsman, a real cheap ace harware screwdriver seems to be the right size,
anyways at your door handle when you lift it up,
there is a small entry point, closest to the rear
of the handle, if you look at the door lock pin siticking through the door panel its just across from this entry point, insert the driver into the entry point and fish for the door lock pin, as soon as you touch the pin with the driver you will see it move, when you see this happen the idea is to use the driver to slide the door lock pin up to unlock the door, once you get used to this it should only take a few seconds to open most ford cars ie mustangs 79-2003 and tarus, maybe some more but I wouldnt know

This has worked for me several times (hope I get it right, it's been awhile)

I take a long, slim screwdriver, insert it in the rear hole (I think) where the hinge goes into the door. You will be able to pry against the lock 'post' in the door. Pry gently against and upward, and pull the handle gently through it's range of motion several times.

Hey, I know it may sound weird, but it has worked for me several times. Kind of hard to explain, tho..
