need starter help quick

quick starter help, what aftermarket or other Ford starters that have more torque can be bolted to the MTX trans. I have a 4.3 liter engine using a SHO rebuilt starter and it cranks really slow, even when I used jumper cables right to the starter, Im guessing the starter isnt that strong?

I don't think there are other starters out there that are stronger avail for the SHO. Although there are 9-12 tooth drives avail. The SHO starter is a gear reduction starter also btw. Maybe that one is bad?

well I tried the original used one, then 2 remanufactured ones from different companies(Bosch, Champion), both of them slowed down when the car heated up, so I bypassed the trunk relocating battery kit and hooked 2 gauge wires right to the starter and a freshly charged battery, it was still cranking kind of slow when cold, thats why Im puzzled, this engine cant possibly use that much force to turn over? so I can also change the gear in the starter to 9 tooth while keeping the original ring gear teeth? how do I get these gears

The 89 starter has 9 teeth, I just changed mine this month.

well i took the starter to a rebuild place and they said its strong enough to spin a 5.8 351W over and said check the wires, but I had new 2 gauge wires hooked right at the starter and maybe a few feet long max. This is on a 4.3liter MTX swap, could the engine be seizing so bad when hot, its ok to turn with no plugs cold, maybe I'm missing something obvious i overlooked, anyone?

4.3L? You using a GM Vortec V6 or something???

All Ford PMGR starters use the same armature, stator, brush design, and planetaries. The main difference is the drive, housing, and solenoid. If the starter can't turn the motor over, you have either bad wiring or the engine is too hard to turn for some reason.

My memory is a bit fuzzy on this one, but aren't the GEN II MTX starters the same as a 4.6 starter? Anybody know for sure?
What does your 4.3 have for compression numbers? Do I read this right, your engine cranks slower when its hot?

haha oops, its a 3.8 Windstar block with a 4.2 crank bored .030 over, so its basically a Ford Freestar or V6 F150 engine. The compression numbers range from 210-220 and the engine was just rebuilt and installed so I have never had it start hot yet. The guy at the rebuild place said the motor part of the starter is pretty much universal for Ford and check my timing etc, but I mentioned to him I even put the timing back to 0 and it made no difference, theres no metal particles in the engine oil or anything, im just really puzzled

well Im sure its the starter now since I took a heat gun and heated it up to about the same temp when the engine sat and idled, it didnt crank again, has anyone else had this problem?
Im guessing mine does it since the oil pan sits withing 1/8" to the starter and the original 3.8 starter was smaller in diameter
