I was wondering if anyone had some tips for shiping a engine block. What would be the recommended carrier? The dry weight? I would need the Block sent from Des Moines Iowa to Wisconsin FYI

I'll have to look for the company that was used to ship my block. It can be very cost prohibitive.
Something to consider--I asked the seller to pull the heads off and just ship the shortblock to cut the cost (weight) almost in half. IIRC a longblock weighs close to 400# and the shortblock was close to 250#. The cost also changes if you want it delivered to a residential address. It has to be loaded onto another truck with a lift and that costs a little extra.

I think I lost the name of the company. A good idea is to search for freight shippers and request a few quotes. Looking at the geography it might be a little cheaper than mine was (MN-VA).

I think it's close. I had it shipped last year. I bought it from Tim Dahm and he might have a better memory than I. I'm sure you can scrape up his email address somewhere. Check his 3.2 swap article over on shotimes.com He did the actual shipping and should have a ballpark figure on weight-- and may even remember the name of the company.
