So, I need about 1/2" longer rear wheel studs for the 91 in order to facilitate using the 17x8 wheels I have. Anyone had to go this route, and if so, where'd you get the longer studs, etc.?

Thanks!

Weren't you selling this car?

On topic: do you have the measurements of the stock studs?

The Bondurant cars used a longer and heavier stud and lug nut. Unfortunately, I don't know where they got them, but I would assume you could just buy a bigger stud and drill out the hub so it fits.

I can do more research if you need it. Send me an e-mail.

Longer studs are easy to find. (the g/f thinks that's a very funny thing to write)

They're not hard to remove, and when you get ready to make the change tap out an old one and take it to NAPA or your favorite competent part dealer. They often have studs in bulk and just ask for one that's longer.

Obviously you can do this without taking one out, too. Ask for a stock piece and/or measure what's in there and just pick through what they have until you get what you need.

The Bondurant cars use slicers, so I don't know why they'd need longer studs. I have the front off of mine at the moment, and I don't recall seeing anything unusual, but I'll try to remember to take a look at the studs and see if they're anything unusual. My Baer sport 12.5" kit came with long studs in it, but I've already replaced a bunch of them.

FYI guys, yes, but until the car's gone, it's still mine & needs to be kept up the way I would if I were keeping her. Example, I replaced the rear 26mm bar bushings tonight with new Energy's. Why? Because it's the right thing to do.

Anyway, FWIW, we're thinking alike - this morning on the way to the shop, I stopped at NAPA. The stocker is something like 46mm long, they have one with a similar (slightly bigger) swedge pattern, at 55mm long. Not quite what I was hoping for (wanted 60mm), but should be enough for what I wanted.

The Bondurant cars used longer and heavier studs for strength and because you needed to use a wheel spacer for the Cobra set that Roush put together.

Those (55mm) were the longest ones I found on the DANA/Motormite site. I bet you might be able to find longer ones through truck aftermarket sources. You might have to modify to get them to fit correctly though. Might be worth a phone call or two to be sure.

I'll try to remember to measure what's on this one next weekend. I used up the last of my spare studs this spring, so I'll probably be getting some more soon. I'm hoping to ditch the spacers on the Bondurant car when I get it back together anyway.
