Ok the water pump was leaking (pooling inder pump dripping on exaust). So I take the hole side off and remove the pump cover( Wiggling the thing loose :() Then I get it all back together and have Anti-Freez pooring out the top and down the back of the engine. So I finally take the intake off- fule rail and can see the Watter supply tube (Cross-Over Tube). It seams that when I was wiggling the water pump free I did something to the stat side of the tube gasket. Now I have a leak where that tube enters the stat housing. Reading these forums (that rock) I seam to have a grip but need clarification.

Now all I should need to do is remove the stat housing pull it out a bit and the tube should fall out cause it is held in by the pressure of the stat and water pump. there is one O ring on each side of the tube. Hopefully the O ring got damaged and the tube is ok. I can not find a tube ANYWHERE. Then repeat for reinstall??

Just wanting a second shot to see if there is anything I am missing?? Thanks for the help I just found this site and I have already learned alot.

Sounds like you've done some homework.
The tube is squished in between the t-stat housing and the waterpump housing.
You probably did mess up an o-ring.

Thanks

Thanks for the info, I have looked very hard for info on this car and there is not a lot. But the info you do find are from good people.

It is even harder for me cause we live in podunk (Hastings) Michigan and normally drive 60 minutes to the nearest anyhting .

I will be working on the car today and will let you know what it was. Thanks again for the info.

Just pull the coolant tube out from the pump end, no need to mess with thermostat manifold. Twist as you remove it and you might not bugger up the o-rings. If you do, just go to a hardware store and get new ones. **** them up with grease or vaseline before re-inserting the tube and the waterpump.

If you found crud in the tube's pocket in the thermostat housing, use #3 or #4 steel wool on a stick to "smooth" it out. Vacuum out the housing to remove all of the crud and steel wool bits.

Good luck.

Instead of steel wool, a more gentle idea might be scotch bright pads, and there will be less of a chance of getting steel wool in your cooling system...but still vacuum it out.
