I parked my 95 ATX last august. Everything worked great before it was parked. My brother banged his car up last week thanks to these slick michigan roads. I let him borrow my SHO to get to work and school. Everything works great except there are no headlights, just running lights and passing lights.

He has to hold the switch back and bright everyone. I printed up a schematic and took some tools over to his house. As far as I know the car doesnt have DRL's, unless they were inoperable the whole time I drove it. It has the Lamp out warning and Auto lamp features. I checked the main 60a fuse and power past it.

I have 12v to the switch and to the MFS. Against my better judgment I replaced both the main light switch and the MFS. They still wont work. I even jumpered the main supply to the main switch to the low beam circuit past the MFS. Nothing seems to work. The passing position has a different supply and uses a different set of contacts in the MFS.

Im just curious if anyone has had this problem and could offer input before I start cutting into the harness. Im bringing the car back here saturday to fix it once and for all. Im sick of trying to figure this out outside in the cold at night. Is it possible ford changed the wiring in late 95 models and employed a relay to fix the switch burning problem? There are an aweful lot of relays under the dash , behind the glove box and one in front of the airbox in the engine compartment.

Im betting its a supply problem from the 60a fuse position but then again who knows. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the response! I got them working today. I had to run a new wire from the 60ampere headlight fuse to the headlight switch. There is a partial break in the original wire somwhere. It would show around 12v at the switch but current was around 300 mA with the circuit closed.

Eventually im going to dissect the harness to find out where the actual problem is and repair it so the original wire can be used again.

I changed a Headlight switch and MFS for nothing :( Oh well at least I know their good.

Somehow I thought you'd replaced parts for nothing. Oh well. Consider it a lesson learned. At least you have headlights now.

From here you may want to consider a heavy duty headlight harness. They fairly inexpensive, and are plug and play, and will greatly improve your light output especially as the SHO has a greater than normal voltage drop in its headlight wiring due to the lamp out monitor. You can get them at places like suvlights.com
