hello!!
My SHO has 130K on it. I toasted the tranny and I am going to replace it soon with a used one. I heard that to replace the tranny you have to drop the whole subframe with the engine and tranny and lift off the body. It seems to me that this is a huge job. It also makes me think that when I do this everything on the engine will be easier to get to. Could anyone give me any ideas on what that I should replace on my car at 130K. Because I know I will be mad at myself if something breaks that could have been easy to deal without the body in the way. Any input on this subject would be very helpful. Thank you.

You do have to drop the subframe in order to remove the transmission.

The engine does not need to be removed and the body does not need to be raised as you described.

OTOH, doing it that way would have some advantages if you were to do other work...

dropping the whole subframe will be less frustrating but it depends what tools you have to do the job. is your tranny atx or mtx? I would like to have some pics regardless it would help my project go a little faster thanks
