HEy guys,
quick question for all you smart SHO members. I notice a loud "buzzing" sound whenever I pressing on the gas pedal... as soon as i stop pressing, the sound stops, so it leads me to believe its fuel or exhaust related... the buzzing sound seems to eminate from underneath the car. any suggestions?
also, at times I hear a groan when turning the wheel in my SHO. often times its worse on more severe turns. what could this be?
thanks.

You'll have to locate the source of the buzzing noise, but the first guess would be a loose catalytic converter heat shield. Check for this by lightly tapping the heat shields with the wooden handle of a broomstick or hammer. You hope you don't hear the sound of loose rockes in the cats because that would be damaged ceramic cat guts and require the replacement of the damaged cat(s). If it is just a loose heat shield, you can have this welded at a muffler shop or just drill a hole in the ****** and use a bolt with lockwasher to secure it.

Does the steering groan happen usually in right hand turns? The Gen I SHOs were notorious for a power steering fluid resonance that created this groan in right hand turns. You should certainly check the power steering fluid level and even replace it if it looks brown or smells burned.

It's funny, but my 1991 groaned periodically in right hand turns throughout its lifetime until I replaced the steering rack at around 250,000 miles. Now, no more groaning. Hmmmm. Maybe something about the orifice sizes in the OEM rack.
