Need help

Alright, so me and "SHOBILL" took apart the sho trying to find where the noise is coming from, we stoped some of the noise which was coming from a pulley. But what we couldnt find was the main noise which happening in the middle below the intake manifold, has anyone ever had a problem like this. i talked to a guy at autozone he said he has owned five gen3 shos and he said it sounds like a buttlerfly valve. if someone could give me some adivice on what this is it would be great. the cams are welded and its has full power its just thay anoying noise.

Are the cams welded? If not i wouldn't drive it anymore.

yes, the cams are welded

Sounds like a cam is feeling to me. Did you have them welded or did the previous owner?

i had them welded.

sounds like my gen3 before it went to sho heaven.

Sounds like it's coming from the front so I would pull the front vavle cover off and check and see what's going on in there.

we used a mechanics stethoscope and its not coming from the front its like right in the middle of the intake manifold.

I thought you determined in one of your other four of five threads on the same topic that it needed to be shimmed?


Is the clicking synonymous with RPMs?

Had the cam sprockets moved prior to welding? I think you have something slapping around. A valve or a piston.

Time to pull the heads, I would think.

did you pull COPS one by one?

Assuming the cams are still fine, I'd still pull the valve covers and be sure a shim did not eject for a bucket.

YES! on the frt bank only, no change in 'the noise'!

-there are only 2 posts on this issue!
-IMO an out of spec shim or 2 would not cause this 'noise'!

Yes, but is only really noticeable at idle.
