Hello all I am new to this site and come with a problem. I have a '95 SHO, and i need a rod replaced. I am not sure whether it would be cheaper to fix the rod or get a new head. I don't have time to work on it but am willing to pay somebody that can. Let me know if anybody is up to the job.

Thanks,
Steve

"I am not sure whether it would be cheaper to fix the rod or get a new head"

Is the engine knocking? A new head won't fix a rod problem.

oh yeah duh, i guess a new head would not fix that eh......i was having a dumb moment lol. Yes the engine is making a very loud "knocking noise". One of our friend mechanics that listened to it said it was a rod, but he won't work on SHO's only regular taureses. So I need some help. Not sure what kind of price range i am looking at.

NO ROds

yo dude there is no rods in the heads just the bottom end, there are valves in the heads that you might want to look at. If you are enexperienced in shos you are probably looking at a hefty price for a mechanic to do the work. you might have an ejected shim which would cause a knock or two. listen to the knock and find out for sure were it is coming from ( top bottom/ left right ) of the motor. let me know your info on that when you figure it out. mechanics are either gonna deni your service or charge up the ***, or sluff on it for months and then charge you up the ***. :madflame: later

Contact Kerry Tuck in your neck of the woods. He's online here somewhere, I forget his screen name though.

Edit: "gosho89", he posted in the open SHO section recently in the "Convention Video Sneak Peak" thread.
