OK, I installed a set of Alpine 6x9's in the factory openings in my 91 which has the JBL system. Everything went well and the sound is OK from what I can tell, but my question lies in the dual plug-ins that the 91 has... going from a 4 speaker rear system to a 2 eliminates the need for one set of plug-ins, but makes me chose between the subwoofer connetor or the upper mid/high connector. I am using the mid/high connector. Bottom line, am I doing the 6x9's justice by hooking them up to the factory amp and powering them through the factory wiring? Are they getting the correct signals since the subwoofer connector is not being used? Headunit is an alpine 45x4 BTW if that matters. If anybody cares, I swapped these in b/c I am using the gen 2 rear package tray so I needed to be able to slip it over the rear speakers w/out having the platform setup that came stock on the 91. Thanks in advance. :thumb:

i would assume that since you're not using the "sub-connector" that the bass will be lacking a little. I dont really have any experience with the gen 1 stereo though..but i think your best bet would be to get an aftermarket headunit..and just skip the amps if you can and have the headunit deliver the full range of sound to the speaker..

like i said, i dont know gen 1's so i dont know what kind of options you have..
